Author Topic: Raid Etiquette (Short Guide)  (Read 520 times)

This post in not meant as a replacement of Raid Etiquette (which is guide to how Prophecy raids and should be read by all members) but is meant as a reminder of the kind of behaviour that would be expected in any raid, Prophecy or otherwise.

1. Be Punctual: No one is expected to come to anything you don't want to, but if you give a commitment to an event then it is rude and unfair to other raid members to be late or to not show. Make sure you let people know in advance of any change of plans that means you can no longer come or will be late.

2. Be Polite: A lot of people put in a lot of time and effort into getting raids going and making them a success, i'm not just talking of raid organisers here but all the committed members who try their hardest for the group. People being rude, moaning or other anti social behaviour is demoralising for the group as a whole.

3. Be Fair: Raiding is a group activity and not for the advancement of any one person. Whenever you are posed with a choice of rolling against someone take a second to think; is this item right for you? is it much of an upgrade? does the other person deserve/need it more? Always behave towards others as you'd like them to behave towards you.

4. Be Prepared: Raiding can be a much quicker and more enjoyable experience if everyone takes the time to prepare. This means reading about the raid, making sure you are repaired, getting an adequate supply of potions, etc. No one is expected to know every fight perfectly beforehand or spend their life grinding just for raids but a little effort goes a long way.

5. Be Hardworking: Coasting through raids is lazy and unfair to everyone else who is trying their hardest to make it a success. Your not expected to be break any healing/dps/tanking records but everyone should be 100% committed to the raid and everyone should be going all out to do their best.

6. Be Willing to Learn: If you see that something does not go as well as it was supposed to don't be afraid to ask about gear / skill usage / tactics. Raiding is a learning process and we all need to work together to progress.

7. Be Patient: Progress won't come overnight. Compared to later raids Karazhan is simple and easy to master, it will take time and effort to advance but the satisfaction will be all the more sweeter for this.

Most importantly: Have fun! Smiley

I copied this from the Alliance guild Genesis (http://wowgenesis.19.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=34), they're hardcore raiding so a few of the point obviously doesn't apply to us, but they have some nice points still.

You are a mature, polite, friendly and generous person.

- You act as a mature person meaning you understand you are in a team with other people and therefore you respect them and their time. You do not annoy other people by your thoughtless actions.

- You avoid any kind of conflicts. You do not use profanities nor the leetspeek.

- You're expected to be friendly with the rest of guild members. Never put another guild member on your ignore list.

- You have a high level of tolerance - we are all humans and you realize that as such we make mistakes that you are willing to forgive and forget.

- You realize you are a part of a team and therefore you act and think as a part of it and for its good. You must not sell to the other guild members. You are happy to donate to the guild and its bank.

- We do not tolerate members who are selfish nor who are here only because of equipment and personal gain. We put a lot of effort into our teamwork and progress while equipment comes as a reward for that effort and it strengthens us so that we can venture into even more dangerous places and win epic battles.

You are an active, dedicated and skilled player.

- We only keep active members in the guild. You will inform us of any possible inactivity.

- You are able to attend most raids, come on time and prepared, from 19:00 to approximately 00:00 CET five days a week.

- You will make sure you have all reagents and consumables you need before the raid starts.

- You have studied the boss strategies on the web so you have an overall knowledge if not experienced first hand.

- You fully understand our focus is end game, thus we expect you to be just as dedicated to raiding as we are; all other ingame activites will be done outside of raid times. If you do not truly enjoy raiding and all that comes with it, you are not what we're looking for.

- You do not raid to get epics. New equipment is awarded by the officers to the members who deserve and need it. Loot decisions are final, there will be no whining.

- You must be very patient (we might wipe continuously in the process of learning a new encounter), attentive, willing to listen and learn.

- You are a reliable person. You must be present for a raid if you haven't informed the Raid Leader about your absence beforehand. You also do not leave the raid without consulting the Raid Leader.

- You must act in accordance with the needs and requirements of the guild. You are willing to adjust your talents in such a way to benefit the raids most.

- You know your Class well and how it functions in a group/raid environment.

- You play and control your character in such a way to use skills and abilities to their full potential.

That's why I love Balkans, we all have some leftover semi-automatic weaponry from the war in our homes, only people getting house-jacked here are douche celebrities.
