It's not much of a difference tbh. I think part of that is remenant belief from Diablo II! Fairly sure blizz have stated they didn't want it to be a big difference or people would just farm the cow level and no other parts of the game. And that is not what they want.

According to the theories in forums, the secret cow level seems to drop best loot in the game (one step above last level of your difficulty), and also has significantly higher droprate of legendaries.

But yeah, D3 is single player game for most, so server problems at Blizz are epic fail.

I dunnoooo. I think the WoW forum would descend into worse rage if faced with a similar situation.

Kinda proves that WoW players are more mature in comparison. Regardless of the minimum age limit of the game.

There seems to be an unusual amount of nerdrage in the D3 tech support forum. It actually makes the wow forums look mature by comparison.

http://www.wow-loot.com/hunter.htm

If you scroll down, there are also sample builds, just choose what spec you are (or you want to be) and it will show you gear you should aim for.

There are items from high level dungeons, quests and reputation. and also few epics you can get from Heroics.

I don't remember everything I had in my pre-raid days, but Sonic Spear from Murmur (in SL) is probably the best hunter weapon pre-raids. Barbaric Legstraps (heroic UB iirc) are really good (I still use those). Second sight helmet from questchain in SMV is really good, or you could go for the one that drops from first boss in SL, also very good. Unless you want Beastlord (Pantyline in Mechanar). For boots, first boss in Arcatraz has some nice ones, think first boss in Sethekk on heroic too (not 100% sure), I still use some greens from a quest (Duro footgear) though cause they're really good. I know I could have put links here, but I'm lazy.  :P

In my (very limited) experience, pvp gear is best for pvp. But I haven't looked at the stats. If it has good stats (ap, crit, all that) and not just a bunch of stamina and resilience I think it can work well in raids.

PvP gear is very high quality epics (level 136) which is better than T5 or SSC/The Eye quality raid epics.
However, they have alot of stats that are not really useful for PvE for most classes (tons of stamina, lots of resilience, increased armor) and this makes armor pieces usually worse than Kara epics even if they are usually level 115.

For example:

[wowitem]28519[/wowitem]
vs
[wowitem]31961[/wowitem]

Still, they are usually better than blues or crafted epics.
Weapons are an exception though, as their most important "stat" is their base damage. That makes arena weapons excellent for raiding too.

[wowitem]31986[/wowitem]
vs
[wowitem]28504[/wowitem]
or even
[wowitem]28772[/wowitem]

This resulted in raiders making "fake" arena teams and waiting around 10 weeks to get the weapon they wanted. For this reason in Arena Season 3 Blizz will make arena weapons available only to teams with a 1900+ rating.

Okay then...it seems i have lots of work to do before even attuning myself.

I'll start off by getting some of the item for the site Acka pointed out. Have the cloack already and close to the Malefactore's eyepatch

Just hope my present gear will help me in ZG

I'm trying to get upgrades now, think I'll have to use some PVP gear as an interim because they're still good, just not quite tweaked for Raiding.

If you are a PvP junkie and don't mind grinding for them, PvP gear is still better than almost any pre-raid PvE gear even for PvE, so go for it.

PvP gear has the advantage of being epic and solo grindable - the veterans stuff that it. I wouldnt bother with the blue class PvP sets. Arena epic gear is good too.

So, PvP gear "wastes" some stat points on resilience and stamina. However, I still think it is worthwhile, especially for a "new" 70 in greens or sub-70 blues, for several reasons:
  • You can justifiably get an epic pvp gear item properly socketed, enchanted and/or armour patched, without worrying that you will waste the time/effort used to do so. PvP epic warrior gear may lack Strength (for dps), but slap in lots of blue 8STR gems and a good enchant and it will beat most blue items, whilst also having good stamina and armour
  • When you do upgrade your kit to something better for PvE, you can still keep the item for PvP. And you will eventually collect 2 sets, one for pvp and one for pve, and can tweak these to your hearts content.
  • For some classes, there *is* no PvE gear in Karazhan - dps warriors have tier 4 gloves and head, and some boots off nightbane. Thats it. Otherwise its a case of filching enhancement shaman mail. Likewise for Balance druids- there is one piece of dps leather (besides tier 4) in all of Kara. On the other hand, PvP gear for both of these classes is fairly well tailored to DPS and allows you to use the "correct" armour class.
  • It's easily grindable for without getting a big group of people together - and you don't have to worry about drop chance or competition. You put in the time- you're guaranteed to get it.
  • Stamina is underrated as a raiding stat - for fights like Aran, Illihoof or Netherspite where everyone takes damage, it is better to do 10% less damage for the whole fight wearing pvp gear than it is to do good damage but die after 30 seconds because you are one-shotted by the boss. Its good to have a "stamina" set around for these fights

So , yeah, PvE gear for PvE and PvP gear for PvP, but it does have its uses.

Think i'll move this post shortly to Public, there's some really useful tips about gear.

Generally, prefer non-guild specific posts to go into Public, as it helps any potential guildie see what we're like.
