It looks like the error codes have received a much needed upgrade. I've gone from 33 to 37. Yay! Or something.

Well, the servers are allegedly back up. However, they seem to have limited concurrency rather severely.

act 3 hell (~halfway), we got a "vampiric molten " pack
(quote) Row: "I refuse"
it was also a running-away type of mob so it pulled many many other packs too

Actually, I find vampiric mortar to be pretty horrific, given how many pets I have out for them to kill  :'(

getting the rep for heroic keys isn't very hard if you've done each faction's quests really. so less excuses and more grinding! *cracks whi*

nabs, go working!
s1 could be a good start before heroics.
example:
you get honored to almost all factions only doing quests and some instances on the way to 70. ok, now i wanna see ppl wearing quest's rewards going to an heroic... no really, i want!
I will stay at a graveyard seeing them die, and die, and die...

with s1 obteinable with honor points, blizz is giving an opportunity to ppl to get some equip before starting to do heroics. if you do a week of pvp, you can get the 3  pvp purple ( belt, boots and bracers ) that are really good in pve too, till kara. and getting some other stuff from s1 will boost again the gear, so ppl can enter an heroic and maybe not wipe endlessly.
ofc, blues from instances and heroics are better, but we are talking about a previous step...

Kiv, months ago I tanked in most Heroics with greenie and blue items, with no difficult at all; the only secret is your feeling with rest of the party  ;) Believe, all the discussions about the equip are a little useless if you really want to do something.
Well, I'm not speaking about Maghteridon or Serpentshrine, and of course I couldn't tank in Heroic Shattered, but the first heroic dungeons are easily doable with a well assorted party and greenie & blue from quests and reputation. Don't forget that alot of factions will reward good items at revered (see for example tank pants with Keepers of Time).
Ramparts and Furnace are extremely easy (except for Rampart's last boss), and the only thing you need is a good timing in cc  ;)

Gladiator set (season 1) is for sure a good HP boost for many classes (someone said some replies above that this set is not good for tanking, and this is sadly true  :-\ ), but don't forget to improve your equip with the new Veteran upgrades (once was general, now veteran, and in 2.3...dunno  ;D). Gladiator will be great, but sometimes epic does not mean "easy" in PvE. You can have alot of HP, but if you can't do decent CC or save (for example) your healer's back, it's all vain. I'm agree that 10k hp is really better than 7k, but if in the party everyone plays his role well, no wipe will come.  ;)

Wearing quest reward blues is fine for doing heroics, maybe not all of them, and maybe not as smooth as after you've picked up some heroic blues/epics, but fully possible. I know, cause when I started doing heroics way back there wasn't anything else around.

Arena gear is decent for pve, and I think in many cases a bit better than the bg-stuff. But the fact remains that pvp-gear focuses more on survival, giving you resilience and stamina over more damage boosting stats (although they have that too ofc).

i'm just saying what ppl said to me when i wasplanning to do heroics, that i need gear ecc...

I really dunno for other classes, but for casters veteran's ( or general's) 3 pieces are really better in many cases than purple epics from heroics.
giving s1 away from honor points let ppl have a chance to take something good also if they cannot menage to get a group.
i always did instances, but remember that lot of ppl is not really excited on them or maybe cannot find a group to do them. having purples that can boost you equip only doing pvp, is a great possibility. they will not be good as drops from bosses, but they can let lot of ppl try heroics in an easier way.

also... they looks cool! i'm planning to get some for rp :P

You are right; a complete PvP set is much more easy to obtain than a PvE Tier set. Think only to the time that you need to gain at least 3 pieces of T4 (25 ppl well geared and cohordinated, timing, etc. etc.). So alot of ppl prefer to do Battlegrounds instead of istances. An Heroic sometimes is much more difficult than Karazhan itself (think at heroic Shattered Halls, and cry  :'( ), and you can do 10 or more run without taking anything good for your class.
That's why PvP items are good ALSO for some type of PvE, but it's a matter of fact that Blizzy created WoW mainly for PvE, and then introduced BGs after months, with a horrible formula...a mini-game IN the main game  >:(
The only problem with PvE items is that they are extremely rare, and sometimes you can miss them if you skip a raid once....
Btw, I am interested in Gladiator gear too, but with my mage because atm I don't think I can play more PvP or Arenas with Raukas...
